چکیده

OBJECTIVE Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is the most common treatment for degenerative disease of spine. Given high rate pseudarthrosis in multilevel stand-alone ACDF, there a need to explore utility novel grafting materials. In this study, authors present single-institution retrospective study patients with spine who underwent ACDF surgery or without cellular allograft supplementation. METHODS prospectively collected database, 28 supplemented (ViviGen) 25 decellularized between 2014 2020 were identified. The primary outcome was radiographic determined by 1-year follow-up CT scan. Secondary outcomes included change Neck Disability Index (NDI) scores visual analog scale neck arm pain. RESULTS 53 mean age ± 0.7 years encompassing 2.6 levels on average. Patient demographics similar two cohorts. cohort, 2 experienced postoperative dysphagia that resolved 3-month follow-up. Multilevel cervical disc replacement versus multilevel anterior discectomy and fusion

BACKGROUND Cervical disc replacement (CDR) has been developed as an alternative surgical procedure to anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) for the treatment of single-level cervical degenerative disc disease. However, patients with multilevel cervical degenerative disc disease (MCDDD) are common in our clinic. Multilevel CDR is less established compared with multilevel ACDF. This stud...

Stand-alone anchored spacer versus anterior plate for multilevel anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion.

The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes and radiological changes of 3- and 4-level anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion with stand-alone anchored spacers and with traditional anterior plates. A total of 51 consecutive patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy who underwent 3- or 4-level anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion were divided into 2 groups: group A (n=...

A Matched Cohort Analysis Comparing Stand-Alone Cages and Anterior Cervical Plates Used for Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion

STUDY DESIGN Retrospective cohort study. OBJECTIVE To compare perioperative characteristics of stand-alone cages and anterior cervical plates used for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). METHODS We reviewed 40 adult patients who received a stand-alone cage for elective ACDF and matched them with 40 patients who received an anterior cervical plate. We statistically compared opera...

Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion versus anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion in multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy

BACKGROUND Both anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion (ACCF) are used to treat multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy (mCSM); however, which one is better treatment for mCSM remains considerable controversy. A meta-analysis was performed to compare clinical outcomes, radiographic outcomes, and surgical outcomes between ACDF and ACCF in tr...

Bilateral posterior cervical cages provide biomechanical stability: assessment of stand-alone and supplemental fixation for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion

INTRODUCTION Supplemental posterior instrumentation has been widely used to enhance stability and improve fusion rates in higher risk patients undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). These typically involve posterior lateral mass or pedicle screw fixation with significant inherent risks and morbidities. More recently, cervical cages placed bilaterally between the facet joints...
